Help Us Build Our Community

YVR Dungeon Masters continues to try to provide free events to teach people how to play tabletop roleplaying games. The only way we're able to do this wonderful work is from the generosity of the people inside of the TTRPG community. People that give their time and energy to be able to build something that will enrich the lives of so many people. If you would like to be one of those people helping us, there are some ways that you can help us. And we would love to have you on board and you too can feel the power of tabletop role playing and what it can do to help our community.

Volunteer Roles

Game Master

Being a game master for YVR Dungeon Masters you would help us at our Introduction to 5th Edition D&D and Other TTRPGs event. We teach people how to play Dungeons and Dragons and one other TTRPG by running one shots for people to play with other new players.

Your job would be to run a game for 3 to 6 players for 3 to 4 hours. You would have to prepare an adventure of your choosing.

We provide the participants with premade character sheets, felt pens, and dice. However, if you would like to use your own premade characters you are free to provide that for your table. We also have extra books, maps, character tokens and Chessex grid maps if you need to borrow anything.

Instructor

Do you have skills or are interested in teaching people? Then this might be for you. We provide game master workshops. We have created a two day, three hours per day, workshop to help people understand what it means to be a game master.

Your role would be an instructor for the workshop. Delivering the instructional material in a professional but friendly manner.

You would need to come to at least one workshop so that we can train you on how to run the workshop.

General Volunteer

If you're not a game master and are looking to help us out in other ways. Then a general volunteer could be a good fit for you. Your role would be to assist an event coordinator with whatever we will need to have our event run smoothly.

That could be helping our participants find their way to our event, assisting a game master at their table, setup or taking down equipment at one of our events and/or playing at table.

Unlike most of our other roles this wouldn’t require you to stay for the whole event. So the amount of time is quite flexible. Of course, the more time you can give the better we can make our events for everyone.

Event Coordinator

In this role you would be the leader for the event. you would be the person organizing the participants, on-site contact for the venue and managing tasks for the volunteers. This would be a very involved role. You would need to assist with at least three other events at least before you would be considered for this role.
