About the Event
We are starting our Intro Nights once more! Now they will be held online until the foreseeable future. That means that we will have to change how a few things will work. What will not change is our commitment to get new players learning the game. Like our in person games, these games will follow YVRDM’s Code of Conduct, going against this will not be tolerated. The games will be open for minors(13+) but will have to be accompanied in the game with an adult. Some things that will be different than our in person events.
First, we understand that technology varies from DM to DM when it comes to online gaming. There are a lot of different VTT systems that all work differently. That is why we will be having an hour before the game’s are to start to explain some of these technologies work to take some of the pressure off the DM’s running the games. Our hope is that this will help make the transition into playing as smooth as possible. Topics we will be covering will be: Setting up accounts, joining games, electronic dice rollers, and specific questions about the game.
Secondly, you will need to sign up for a game before the day of the event. Since the DM will have to set up the technology based on the number of players in the game. Adding new players can be quite difficult on certain programs. We have set up a channel with the listed games that are available for you to play on the day of the event. PLEASE DO NOT SELECT MORE THAN ONE GAME, it will make it seem like there are more people which could prevent people from getting to play. Lastly, we are trying to fix an issue that we were finding with our in person events, which was getting new players into recurring games. Intro Nights are a great way to dip your toes into the sea that is tabletop gaming, however, we truly believe that great gaming comes from building a long term game. To resolve this issue we will be doing two things. After the game we would like you to fill out a feedback form to follow up on the game and what you will need going forward. The more information that you provide the easier it is for us to find a solution. Also, providing an up to date listing of active games/DM in the community so you can make the choice.
